About Us
Promote Dunstan is a small group of volunteers promoting the area from Earnscleugh and Clyde to the Manuherikia.
It is a non-profit incorporated society with members developing and encouraging various activities and events which promote the area to the benefit of residents, businesses, and visitors.
The group evolved from the Clyde-Manuherikia Promotions Group in Clyde in early 2000. By 2005, with new members and a new agenda, the name Promote Dunstan was adopted to encompass the wider region which, in the gold rush days of the 1860s, was known as The Dunstan.
The Group is becoming more involved in the community enhancement projects, as well as identification and preservation of heritage sites.
We are working alongside other agencies to achieve this by promotion, fund-raising, purchase, and management before these sites are lost to future generations.
Our logo is a stylised drawing of Leaning Rock, a massive tor which dominates the skyline on the Dunstan Mountains.
It is a distinct landmark and can be seen from all around the district, a giant schist tor known to early Māori as Haehae-ata.
